Winter storm to spread snow, ice and rain across central and eastern US


eA storm will spread a round of snow, ice and rain from the Plains to the Great Lakes later this week. The storm will reach the Northeast this weekend.

According to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams, “One of the storms hitting California this week will spread a few inches of snow to part of the north-central United States with a bit of rain over flooded areas farther to the south to end the week.”

Ice is making for difficult travel in Mustang, Oklahoma, just outside of Oklahoma City. More sleet, freezing rain and snow moves into Oklahoma early Monday morning.
An additional one to two inches of snow and sleet is possible in central Oklahoma with two to three inches possible across western Oklahoma.

[CHICAGO] Winter weather warnings issued for several counties starting tomorrow morning


CHICAGO – Winter is gearing up for a comeback.

Several winter weather warnings have been issued for the Chicago area.

Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Cook County from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.Monday. The National Weather Service says freezing rain and sleet will develop in the morning, mainly away from the lake. The icy precipitation will change to rain by the afternoon. Strong winds are possible.

Additionally Cook and Lake counties are under a Lakeshore Flood Warning starting at 9 a.m. Monday. Strong winds are expected to cause waves to build 15-20 feet. Flooding of nearby roads is possible, according to the National Weather Service.
