57-story skyscraper in 19 days

CHANGSHA, China, April 30 (UPI) — A Chinese construction firm released time-lapse video showing how it erected a 57-story skyscraper in 19 working days at a rate of three floors per day.

Prefab construction firm Broad Sustainable Building said the Mini Sky City building was constructed from steel and glass in 19 working days in Changsha, Hunan province, and a time-lapse YouTube video shows how the project was completed at a rate of three stories erected per day.

The skyscraper contains 4,000 offices and 800 residential apartments, the firm said.

Xiaozhang Geng, an official with the firm, said the building was erected in two halves — the first in 2014 and the second in the first two months of this year. He said the project had originally aimed for 97 floors, but was reduced to 57 due to its proximity to an airport. He said builders spent a total 19 days erecting the skyscraper.

The firm is now aiming to build a 220-story building called Sky City and is awaiting approval from the government.
